Little House on the Lake is a book documenting the remaining cottages on Madison, Wisconsin’s Lake Mendota during the summers of 2010 and 2011. There is a natural desire to build larger modern homes, and that has led to the steady and rapid removal of the lake cottages that once contributed so greatly to Lake Mendota’s accessible charm and character. This photographic record was created by Jeff Strahl, to collectively record these structures for a better understanding of a sense-of-place, nostalgia and preservation for Madisonians, current and future.
Introduction by Architectural Historian Anne Biebel, as well as contributions from Don Sanford, author of On Fourth Lake, A Social History of Lake Mendota.
