The Farm is an ideal place to bring the kids: there is a large, safe space to play; jungle gyms and swings; a trampoline and shaded sand pit; a wendy house and a mini mud-kitchen. All this where parents and grandparents can see the kids while they enjoy their coffee and cake. The Farm is close enough to Knysna town – 4km – and yet it feels like the country. Benches and tables spread across the garden and look directly across to an open panorama of trees and greenery.
The Farm kitchen offers satisfying, tasty breakfasts and light meals, with something sweet for those who love to have their cake and eat it! ‘Real’ ingredients are used … only butter, olive oil and farm-fresh eggs, and certain menu items have become absolute hits – the ‘Avo Stack’ being one. On a Friday afternoon the Pizza oven comes alive and families load the children and their wine to enjoy an evening out in the open, until dark, in a space where children play until bed-time. Pizzas are also offered on Sunday.
The Farm loves all things cycling, and is one of the few bike friendly restaurants in Knysna. With the healthy life-style in mind, The Farm was developed to encourage young riders in the development of cycling skills, and as a coffee and breakfast stop for cyclists, trail runners and walkers coming down from the contour trails (with a water bowl for their dogs too). There is a mini bump track of bumps and berms, with balance bikes for the very young riders to use. ‘The Puffadder’ is a track that winds up to the top of the property and around the dam – a good ride for older children; and then the ‘Ravine Run’ is a short technical downhill through the indigenous tree tunnel – sometimes used as a section in MTB races in the area.
